The Zoo.

It was a day unlike another,
Laced with such sweet weather.
It started out at a faraway station,
Where everyone bustled towards their occupation.

10 o'clock ok? so stated the message,
But we never did register the word late.
Early we were, much to each other's surprise,
But the crowd! it was definitely a my, oh my!

Little kids, barely the height of our waist,
Could not stand the long, long wait.
Running here and running there,
They seem to be everywhere.

Walking through the grand entrance,
We were overwhelmed and truly entranced.
The place is huge! Enormous! STUPENDOUS!
Without a map on hand, we felt oh so powerless.

Grasping a map and a GREAT sense of direction,
We ventured fearlessly on.
Equipped with curiosity and inquisition.
We prayed hard that we wouldn't get lost.

Let's turn here!
No, we should turn to the left!
ALAMAK! why are we back here?!
Oh dear oh dear..

Just kidding, it was nothing of that sort.
We trekked, we saw, we oohed, and we aahed.
KACHA! went the camera and captured the lot,
the poor poor animals, all they could see were stars.

Finally!! It's that time of the day!
They jumped and they snatched, screaming, don't play play!
They gnawed on the food and went GRRR...
Never ever mess with me, dear sir.

The yellow jaguars were a lively bunch,
but where oh where does the black one hunts?
Craning our necks we did attempt,
but all we saw was a little lamb?

We touched it's head,
And snapped its picture.
But the fierce one soon came,
And scared away the visitors.

The lion roared in the distant.
Was that the lion or the thunder?
I don't care, it is the lion!
But he says it's the thunder!!

True to his words, it started drizzling.
True to my words, the lion went missing.
Where oh where did the lion go?
The weather is turning cold.

Luck was on our side as we saw a runaway monkey,
Hiding high up among the trees seemingly trying to peep.
The zoo keepers were perplexed and hapless,
but no matter how they cooed, it just seems useless.

Soon, our stomachs started to complain and whine,
But there wasn't really anywhere to dine.
Thus, we settled for the ever simple ice cream,
The sweetest, coolest food one can ever dream.

I'm tired, I don't wanna write anymore.
I feel like walking out that bedroom door.
Nevertheless I shall complete my task,
I shall make the zoo sound like a blast.

We heard that it was the best,
Therefore we rushed for the animal show.
Wet though the seats were, we couldn't care less.
All we want is for the show to roll.

We rushed from show to show,
And the weather got really hot.
But the shows were fascinating!
Captivating, spellbinding and intriguing!

After the shows, we glanced at our watch.
It was late, it was time to go.
Slowly, we trod out of the zoo.
Weariness written all over our faces.

Thus we made our way back,
To the very point where we started.
We went our separate ways,
And that, was a wonderful day at the zoo.
